After several weeks of use, makeup brushes can accumulate oil, makeup, and other dust residue that your face naturally produces. Washing your brush from time to time will prevent all the dirt from transferring to your face and will also make the bristles softer and more effective. Here's an easy way to clean makeup brushes.
Step 1 Run the bristles under warm water. Avoid letting water rush to the metal buckle under the brush handle, or it may break the glue that holds the bristles together. Keep flushing until most of the makeup has been removed.
Tip: Make sure the brush head is facing down when rinsing in running water. If water gets on the metal buckle under the brush handle, it could damage the brush. Do not use hot water as it may also damage the brush.
Step 2 Mix shampoo and water. Fill a cup with 1/4 cup of warm water and add a teaspoon of shampoo. Stir the mixture quickly with a spoon to create a lather.
Step 3 Swirl the bristles in the mixture.Only the bottom of the bristles should be placed in the mixture to avoid water being drawn up close to the handle.
Step 4 Remove the brush head from the mixture. Rub the bristles gently with your fingers to remove any makeup and dust that remains on the bristles.
Step 5 Drizzle bristles under warm water. Keep rubbing the bristles while rinsing until they are completely washed. Likewise, do not wet the handle.
Step 6 Tap the bristles. Use a clean dish towel or towel to gently wipe away the water.
Step 7 Restore the status quo. Brush the bristles away with your fingers and let them return to their original shape.
Step 8 Place the brush on the dry cloth. Make sure you don't bend the bristles at the bottom.
Step 9 Fluff the bristles. When the brush is completely dry, fluff the bristles. It's time to use your makeup brush again.
