1. Cleaning frequency: It is recommended to perform a deep cleaning of the makeup brush every two weeks to remove makeup residue and bacteria. For frequently used eyeshadow brushes or lip brushes, there is also an option to clean them weekly. Brushes for everyday use can be simply cleaned with makeup brush cleanser or a mild facial cleanser after each use.
2. Cleaning tools: The easiest way to clean makeup brushes is to use a mild facial cleanser or a special makeup brush cleaner. Pour the cleanser into the palm of your hand, rub the bristles gently, and rinse with water. Note, do not soak the water directly into the brush handle, so as not to damage the brush.
3. Bristle protection: After cleaning, gently squeeze the bristles dry, and then use paper towels or clean towels to organize the bristles into their original shape. Do not rub or wring the bristles too hard, as this will easily cause the bristles to fall off or deform.
4. Drying method: During the drying process of the brush, the bristles should be kept vertically hanging downwards, and a special brush rack or drying rack can be used. Avoid putting the brush on a horizontal surface to dry, so as to prevent moisture from penetrating into the brush handle and glue, which will affect the service life of the brush.
5. Replace regularly: No matter how carefully you maintain and clean your makeup brushes, the bristles will still become loose and uneven over time. Therefore, changing your makeup brushes regularly is part of good hygiene. Depending on the frequency of use and the condition of the brush, it is generally recommended to replace the makeup brush every 6 months to 1 year.
