Trimmed, Untrimmed Badger, Trimmed, and Untrimmed, primarily in Badger hair, other types of bristles will not be Trimmed. The concept isn't mentioned much, primarily because Trimmed Badger is sidelined in the Wet Shaver community. Untrimmed is Trimmed badger hair with a white or yellow tip, and the corresponding Trimmed badger hair is black or brown, Trimmed from the front. Trimmed Badger, with a shaved tip, is not generally considered Trimmed Badger hair.
Black Badger, a very Continental concept that British brands rarely use. Sources: basic, black from crosstalk, from badger limbs, tail. The Black Badger is tough and has a sharp shave due to the clipped tip. Bowl Lathering is better than the Black Badger, and is recommended only for experienced players or early adopters.
