High Mountain White, HMW for short, originated from Plisson, French Blanc Haute Montagne. As Plisson clearly adopted the straightforward origin + color naming similar to European White, European Grey and Russian Grey, High Mountain in HMW is an independent meaning, referring to the origin of this kind of badger hair. It probably refers to the badgers of the Alps. Switzerland, located in the Alps, is not a preferred habitat for badgers, but the Swiss badger is the third most hunted in the European Union and its wild population is steadily increasing. Plisson's badger brush uses only the hair of European badgers (Meles Meles Meles), so the actual HMW should refer to the Silvertip hair of European badgers found in the Alps.
