Synthetic brushes are definitely a new baby compared to natural hair shaving brushes. The first synthetic brushes were invented in the second half of the 20th century, when they were simply made of nylon used in ordinary brushes, attached to a shaving brush with white bristles and considered junk. Gillette used to have this product.

In the late 2000s, around the time of the revival of Wet Shaving, a new synthetic Fibre appeared: Silvertip Fibre. Developed by chemical giant DuPont, the fiber was one of the newest synthetic fibers at the time. Although the name of the fiber is a bit like Silvertip, it is slightly weaker in softness than Silvertip, but its toughness exceeds Silvertip. Unfortunately, this fiber has extremely poor water storage and only performs well in Bowl Lathering, while Face Lathering is basically a disaster. Nevertheless, Silvertip Fibre heralded the arrival of synthetic brushes in the Wet Shaving arena and revealed the potential that synthetic brushes could have, and a wide variety of synthetic fibres were then used in experiments with Shaving brushes.
